Jim's Devotional - October 9th

How about our treasure, or money? The Bible is also very specific about what our priority is with money.

Proverbs 3:9 says, “Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the first fruits of all your increase;” Notice the Holy Spirit says through Solomon “first-fruits.” Then Paul says, in 1st Corinthians 16:2, “On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.”

When we have an increase, payday or otherwise (maybe an inheritance or some other type of
“increase”) the first action with this is to seek the Lord for what He would have us to give and where we should give it.

In Proverbs, Solomon goes on to say, “So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:10). In other words, as we obey the Holy Spirit, and the Word of God, God promises to invest in us. It’s the spiritual law of sowing and reaping.
