What if the very thing we have been straining and striving to earn has already been given to us as a gift? That is the breathtaking heart of the gospel, and it is far simpler than we often make it. This message walks us through an honest and even uncomfortable reckoning with our own shortcomings.

When we measure ourselves against God's perfect standard, against His commandments, against our own conscience, and against the structures of family, church, and government, we find that every one of us has fallen short. The wages of that falling short is death. But here is where the good news breaks through like light through a sealed room. Hebrews 2:9 tells us that Jesus, by the grace of God, tasted death for everyone. Not just for a few. Not just for the devout. For everyone. He did not merely die a death for us. He died a death as us. And when He rose, we rose with Him. The moment we place our faith in that finished work, God does not put us on a probationary plan or a performance track. He places us on the same plane of righteousness as His own Son. That is not just good news. That is the greatest news ever announced.
