What kind of inheritance are we actually passing down to the next generation? This message challenges us to examine the mantles we carry and the ones we place on those who come after us. Drawing from the powerful story of Elijah and Elisha in 1 and 2 Kings, we see that a mantle is not just a piece of cloth but a symbol of anointing, purpose, and spiritual empowerment.
Elijah performed seven miracles in his lifetime, but after his anointing was transferred to Elisha, Elisha performed fifteen, including one that happened after his own death when a body thrown onto his bones came back to life. That is not a story about a garment. That is a story about what God can do when a genuine spiritual inheritance is passed from one life to another.
The question this raises for us is both personal and urgent: are we handing down mantles that truly matter, or are we passing on lesser things, achievements, ambitions, and status symbols, that carry no eternal weight? The ceiling of one generation was always meant to be the floor of the next.
